And Why It’s NOT About ‘The Bike’*
The proof of the pudding is in the eating. So it goes. Which is, I guess, another way of saying, “Show me! (Don’t tell me.)”. Well, I’m going to ‘show you’ right now, I hope, in this naturally incomplete post about ‘the answer you’ve always been looking’.
I’m going to try get you to see for yourself – to eat t’pudding, as it were – the only answer that has ever really mattered. And I shall use 7 inspirational quotes, a 10-minute video called, “It’s Not About The Bike”, and words like these (and more) to do so…
The Answer: It’s Not About The Bike
NOTE: What follows is a piece I wrote for a talk I’d like to give this coming November (2017), via Liz Scott. About ‘the answer’ and how it applies to those embracing the 3 Principles understanding. But it really applies to all who need reminding of where the answer always lies…
Only the ideas we actually live are of any value.
– Herman Hesse
START
It’s not about the bike. It’s about the one that rides it.
Now “the bike” is a metaphor for what is created in the world of form. The past. The future. Shoulds and Shouldn’ts. Good and bad feelings & thoughts. Beliefs, values, and strategies. The bike is also Brexit, Donald Trump and the crisis in Syria.
The bike could also be achievements, success or status, or the lack of them – and it’s not about that.
It’s not about words, or even deeds.
It’s not about authenticity, or integrity or honesty.
It’s not about any of ‘that’, it’s about the one that experiences that.
It’s not about the bike, then, but the one that ‘creates the bike’ (via the 3 Principles of Mind, Consciousness and Thought), or the one that rides it.
And it’s most certainly not about the ones that tell you it’s not about the bike. (E.g. Sydney Banks, Michael Neill, George Pransky, Elsie Spittle, Jamie Smart, etc. or even me). It’s not about them, it’s about You.
It’s not about love, but what you let love do through you.
It’s not about what you think, but that you think.
It’s not about your actions, or your inactions – it’s about the one that can act.
It’s not about the bike, then, it’s about you. Not the form of you, not who you think you are (and appear to be), but the you before all of of that.
Before opinions, rightness and wrongness, before time itself.
It’s about ‘that one’. (That One.)
The one that rides life, as best you can.
It is, and always has been and will be, about you.
You that understands the 3 Principles, or you that doesn’t.
You ARE and always have been the 3 Principles in action. (So start to learn from yourself, and start now.)
Your 3 Principles understanding can make a difference to you, and to the world, of course. But your understanding is still “the bike”. The biggest difference you will ever make is in remembering YOU. And sharing that YOU with others.
Not what love does, then, but how it feels; how it feels to Be You – ALL of you, not just the good bits.
It’s not about “the bike”, it’s about you.

INTERLUDE: 5 Inspirational Quotes About ‘The Answer’
It is your show.
It is your universe.
There is no one else here, just you,
and nothing is being withheld from you.
You are completely on your own.
Everything is available for direct knowing.
No one else has anything you need.
No one else can lead you, pull you, push you or carry you.– Jed McKenna
Do not feel lonely… The entire Universe is inside You.
– Jalaluddin Rumi
Here is my secret. It is very simple. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; What is essential is invisible to the eye.
– Antoine de Saint Exupéry, The Little Prince
I belong to no religion.
My religion is Love.
Every heart is my temple.
– Jalaluddin Rumi
“Anything you want to ask a teacher, ask yourself, and wait for the answer in silence.”
– Byron Katie
And, of course, don’t believe anything anyone ever tells you about ‘the answer’ – that it’s inside, within, or it lives, precariously, in some outside event/situation/cause. Because, we all know really, that…
The Ultimate Answer to Life, The Universe and Everything is…42!
– Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
The Answer #2: “SHOW ME!”
Yes, I don’t care what you do or don’t ‘believe’… “Show me!”
Now me, I’m into the 3 Principles understanding. It points me inwards, within, to where the answers lie. It shares spiritual ‘facts’ of life (e.g. you’re living in the feeling of your thinking in the moment, not the circumstances). And I like that. But that’s me, it might not be what does it for you. So let’s speak about you…
It does not interest me what you believe or don’t believe (see or don’t see):
- Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Atheist…
I don’t care about your values, either:
- Conservative, Republican, Capatalist, Socialist, Communist or Humanist…
- Vegan, vegetarian or unapologetic meat-eater…
- Pro or Anti [Insert Cause Here]
It does not matter at all what ‘self-help’ modality/strategy you trust:
- NLP/CBT/EFT, The Sedona Method, Hypnotherapy, Human Givens…
And I’m not concerned how woo-woo, or otherwise, it is what ‘does it’ for you
- Reiki Healing, Angels, Tarot Cards, Past Life Regressions, Remote Viewing…
Or whether it’s a physical ‘gig’ for you or it’s just mental
- Yoga, Mindfulness & Meditation, Tai Chi or Falun Gon or 5 Rhythms…
It isn’t even important whether you’re a truth-seeker or not
- The 3 Principles, Access Consciousness, Byron Katie’s “The Work”, Non-duality…
Yes, I don’t care what you believe in, or practice; how true or untrue it all is; or even what difference it has made to your life…
SHOW ME!
- Show me whether you’re a loving human being, or a fearful one
- Show me whether you can see the value in others – those who might do things you disapprove of, believe things you think untrue, and behave in ways you do not understand or condone – or do you distrust them, seek to ‘correct’ and ‘fix’ or punish them
- Show me whether you can let me be me and you be you
Yes, whatever it is that you’re into to, do you use ‘it’ to judge and condemn others (to separate yourself from them) or do you let it use you (be you) to love others (and see them as you)?
Show me how much of your experience of life you can take responsibility for.
If the only thing people learned was not to be afraid of their experience, that alone would change the world.
– Sydney Banks
Show me whether you’re part of the problem or part of the solution.
Be the change you want to see in the world
– Gandhi
(Because what’s not transformed is transmitted. So being angry with someone’s anger, or intolerant of someone’s intolerance, or unaccepting of someone’s unacceptance, well… that’s ALL being part of the problem.)
Show me how at ease you are with yourself, how comfortable you are in your own skin, how at ease you are with others; show me, show me, show me!
Because that’s all that really matters!
Not just to me, either, but to you, too.
Because love feels good, and fear does not. (Instant karma, anyone?)
And because love is Who You Are and fear is when you’ve forgotten.
And so the ‘answer’ you choose to help you remember ‘the best of yourself’ – be it Christianity, Yoga, The 3 Principles understanding, etc. – is NOT what’s important. The answer is You Remembering Who You Are.
Because You ARE The Answer (Yes, You!)
