Inspirational Love Yourself Day!

Why Now is the Right Time to LOVE YOURSELF

Why in the world would you not love yourself? What does it even mean to love yourself, and isn’t self-love all a bit self-obsessive? Well, put simply, love yourself: love others; love others, love yourself…

Valentiine's Day Image - Walt Whitman Quote | Self-Love

“I celebrate and sing myself.” – Walt Whitman [Hallelujah!]

Yes, there’s always someone you can love and be loved by. Do you know who that someone is? (I think you do!…)

No Matter Who You Are, or What Day of the Year It Is…

Whether you’re Larry Lovedup or Laurie Lonely, whether you’re heterosexual, homosexual, asexual or whatever, or whether it’s a snowy day in April a la Prince… no matter!

No matter, no matter, no matter!

Let today be a day of self-love to each and every one of us!

So I Say This To You…

I say this then, to the singletons, to the loved-up pairs; to the “I’ll always be alone! (Moan!)” types, and the polyamorous peeps; and to those struggling, with loss, or just to just make sense of the relationship ‘rush’…

To ALL of you reading right now, I say this:

Make today a day to love the most important person
in the whole wide world: YOU!

Yes, Valentine’s Day seems to be about couples and partners or evenings in alone, but we can all spend some precious time with ourselves, we can all look ourselves in the mirror eye-to-eye, one moment today, and say…

I LOVE YOU!

Yes, we can say this to ourselves, we really can! No need for email. No need for Facebook. No need for Hallmark! Just find a few spare moments – and do it soon! – and pause, for a moment…

“I love you!”

But first, a video distraction…

LOVE YOURSELF: AND FINALLY…

Even after all this time the sun never says to the earth, ‘you owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky.
— Hafiz

Love is so much more than romantic love, than parental love, than self-love even! So take a moment now, in gratitude of love, to notice all those times that people have loved you, and held you, and cared for you. And tell them this, whisper it now…

 “THANK YOU!”

And thank yourself too, for still being here and for still caring (and sharing) – thank YOU!

This journey of true love, even the true love you have with yourself, is never-ending, remember: there will always be ups and downs, and round and rounds (it’s a rollercoaster, right!). Relax, though – it all just means that you’re alive! Whoop! Whoop! 🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day!

With love, always,
Steve X

LOVE NOTES:

  1. Many of the quotes that appear above appear in my brand new Amazon Kindle ebook, “Wonderful & Marvelous – Daily Empowering Quotes (About You!)”. It’s available at all good book shops (called Amazon).

  2. You can read the rest of the Walt Whitman poem here…

  3. THE best book on relationships I’ve ever read – and, okay, I’ve only read two, the one I recommend and that Venus Mars one – is called The Relationship Handbook by George Pransky. If you want to know how to make your relationship work, and you’re happy to stop the finger-pointing and rely instead on love and trust and remembering just why you fell in love in the first place, then I highly recommend you buy and read and do what George suggests in his loving book…

“PS I Love You!”

Hmm, imagine being able to say that to yourself! At the end of a bad day. All alone with your thoughts. Imagine, indeed…

This is exactly what’s on offer with transformative coaching, though – how to be gentle with yourself, come what may!

SUMMARY: What’s Self-Love Got to Do with it?

There is someone in your life that you love unconditionally. No matter what they do, or how they behave towards you, your love remains, and always will. Let that someone be you. (Actually, that someone IS you, you just keep forgetting it!)

Can there ever be a more creative, supportive action to take, in anyone’s life, than to actively remember to love who you are…

SELF-LOVE: Some Next Steps To Take…

Intellectually ‘getting this’ is one thing – getting that it’s important to love yourself, to be gentle and kind – but it’s really only the first step to becoming deeply comfortable in your own skin. Here are some next step suggestions to help you remember that you ARE loveable:

  • Notice that every amazing loved-up feeling you’ve experienced came from within you (as did every feeling of loss, isolation, and deep despair)
  • Notice that ‘whatever happens’, there you are. There. You. Are.
  • Understand that every ‘problem’ you experience comes from within.
  • Notice how much you have ALWAYS loved yourself, despite the negativity
  • (Notice, too, what YOUR wisdom suggests you to notice about self-love. Pause. Listen.)

Or, much more simply:
